Five of the six racing divisions season championships will be determined this Saturday night at Dodge City Raceway Park. The IMCA Modified, Northern Sport Mod, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, and Stars Mod Lights classes will conclude their season and champions will be determined.

Clay Sellard holds a 48 point advantage in the Modified division and will most likely take the points championship. There is a fierce competition from 2nd back to 5th as Danny Keller currently sits in 2nd, 2 points ahead of Trent Gray. Gray also holds a 2-point advantage over Chad Taylor in fourth. In the 5th spot is David Solberg 12 points back. This should be a great battle to watch as 2nd through 5th shoot it out for the season ending spots.

Northern Sport Mods

Brendan Nordyke maintains the top spot in the Sport Mods with 363 points. Barring any bad luck he can seal the deal on the season points championship. Ryan Kirchoff has a slim chance to knock Nordyke out of the top spot by winning the race and have Nordyke finish 21st or worse to pick up the championship. Jimmy Brozek is lurking in the 3rd position just 5 points behind Kirchoff and will be gunning to finish 6 positions or better ahead. If he is able, he could be the runner-up in the Sport Mod class. Brett Berry has been the hot shoe in the class as of late, winning the last 4 events at Dodge City. The winner of this class on Saturday night will take home an additional $1000 for a $1500 payout, curtesy of Mel Hambelton Ford Racing.

Stock Car

For the Stock Car class Mr. (Jason) Rogers has to simply start the heat race to be the season points champion, as he holds a 31-point lead over Ondre Rexford. Rogers has been the winner of the last 5 races at the raceway and whomever can beat him this weekend will receive an additional $500. Chris Oliver currently 3rd in points, has a shot at the second spot if he finishes 5 spots ahead of Rexford in the main event.

Hobby Stock

Bingston Rogers will be gunning for Reagan Sellard who currently sits on top of the standings by only 3 points in the Hobby Stock division. Manuel “Skeets” Salazar is solidly in third, 29 points out of the top spot, and 70 points ahead of 4th place driver Dustin Kreger.

Stars Mod Lights

In the Stars Mod Lites class Dalton Bell holds a 6-point advantage over Clayton Hogie while Clayton is just 4 points ahead of his father Marlin Hogie in third. Just last weekend Dalton Bell’s brother Dylan Bell a pro Flat Track motorcycle racer competed at DCRP winning the Big Twin class and running second in the Modern Opens.

As Dodge City Raceway Park wraps up the season points championships for most of the classes this weekend, the IMCA 305 Sprint Cars will post their final tallies during the Steve King Memorial Race along with the 360 sprints and the Rocky Mountain Midget Series during the October 8-9th Sprint Car and Midget Nationals.

Saturday the pits will open at 3:00pm, the main gates at 6:00pm, and hot laps at 7:00pm.

Tickets are just $12.00 at the front gate for adults and children under 12 are free.

For the kids this weekend there will be a sidewalk chalk drawing competition behind the grandstands, prizes will be awarded to 3 artist kids with the best drawings.
